The paper discusses how the green mentality necessary for the sustainable transition of society is shaped through sport and the psychological development of young people. The starting point is that through participation in sports activities and guided psychological interventions, the values of responsibility, selfdiscipline, care for the community and future generations are encouraged, which can be transferred to the relationship with the environment and resources. Theoretical models from sports psychology and environmental psychology, research results on the connection between sport, identity and prosocial
behavior, and examples of programs that integrate environmental topics in youth work are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the role of coaches, peers and educational institutions in shaping attitudes towards sustainability, as well as communication strategies that popularize green thinking patterns through sport. The results show that through the systematic inclusion of ecological content in sports programs, it is possible to contribute to the formation of more resilient, solidary and sustainability-oriented young generations, which strengthens social capacities for a just and inclusive green transition. It is also emphasized that we can use sport as an accessible and attractive platform for young people to learn about sustainable development and to empower young people to become active agents of change in their communities
