Abstract

The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled the application of smart technologies in environmental monitoring and protection. Networked sensors, devices and systems today provide precise and timely data on the state of air, water, soil and energy resources. This data enables informed decision-making, early detection of pollution and more efficient management of natural resources. Of particular importance are IoT solutions that monitor air and water quality,
measure energy consumption and optimize recycling and waste management processes. By integrating IoT technologies into environmental policies and infrastructure, it is possible to reduce the negative impacts of human activity, increase system efficiency and contribute to the development of a green economy. The application of IoT in environmental protection represents an important step towards digital transformation and sustainable development, especially in theđ Western Balkan countries where we face significant environmental challenges.
