This paper analyzes the transition from a carbon-based economy to a low-carbon future, with particular emphasis on policy-makers’ strategies and the state of the environment. Global challenges related to climate change require a transformation of economic models, energy systems, and industrial practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the sustainable use of resources. The paper explores key decarbonization policies, international agreements, and the role of national strategies in achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal. Special attention is given to environmental indicators that reflect the effectiveness of energy transition measures. The economic aspects of adopting low-carbon technologies are also examined, including costs, benefits, and social implications for local communities. The aim of the paper is to highlight the importance of an integrated approach that links policy decisions, scientific research, and technological innovation as the foundation of sustainable development. It concludes that the shift toward a low-carbon future is not only essential for environmental preservation but also an opportunity to build a more competitive, resilient, and equitable global economy.
