Abstract

Climate change and environmental pollution represent a serious threat to humanity. In response, the European Union launched the European Green Deal, a strategy aimed at transforming the EU into a climate-neutral economy by 2050 that uses resources efficiently. The goal is to ensure that economic growth is no longer dependent on the exploitation of natural
resources and that no person or region is left behind in the transition to sustainability. The plan includes the protection of natural habitats, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the promotion of a circular economy, and the use of clean energy. Through strategies such as “Farm to Fork,” the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, and the Zero Pollution Action Plan, the
EU seeks to preserve air, water, and soil quality and to improve citizens’ health. The European Climate Law requires member states to reduce emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. The EU also plays a leading role in implementing the Paris Agreement and developing low-carbon technologies. Sustainable development and environmental protection are key to the future of Europe and the world—they form the foundation of health, prosperity, and a just society.
