Abstract

In modern society, the amount of production waste is constantly growing due to accelerated industrialization, urbanization and consumer lifestyle. The importance of waste management is becoming more and more pronounced. Inadequate disposal of unusable residues from production and consumption can have serious consequences for the environment of healthy living (eg pollution of water and land, spread of diseases), as well as for flora and fauna. This matter was researched by analyzing the text and by synthesizing the views of researchers from the relevant literature. The basic results of the research are reflected in the views that rational waste management in production organizations is a contribution to sustainable development, reducing the negative impact on the environment and creating competitive advantages on the market. In the future, integrated systems that combine ecological, economic and technological aspects with the obligatory involvement of experts from the aforementioned fields will have increasing importance.
